Climate of Ireland

Ireland is a nation with a temperate maritime climate due to its proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf Stream. The central plain regions of this country are flanked by a ring of coastal mountains. The topography has a great effect on the climate of Ireland. Popularly known as the Emerald Isle, this place also features an oceanic climate with a few extremes.Central Ireland includes lush greenery as it receives a lot of precipitation. In summer, you will experience sunny weather with clear sky spotted with gentle fluffy clouds. Light rain occurs in summer occasionally and the duration of this rain is very short. In July and August, humidity can be noticed in the weather and sometimes heavy humidity causes thunder storms with lighting.
It has been recorded that in July the average temperature is around 15° Celsius. In the summer months, the maximum temperature of the land increases to 30º Celsius.

In winter, climate of Ireland enjoys a sunny spell with rain and clouds occasionally. Snowfall occurs in the mountain region but usually that is not the generic feature in other parts of the country. In the lowland areas, snow fall results only for a few days. The temperature in January has been recorded around 5º Celsius. On winter midnights, usually temperatures drop below freezing point and snow covers the entire region including lakes and rivers.

Across the island, the climate always differs thus affecting the topographic status. The mountain area features wettest weather because of the predominance of certain local winds. Enjoy this sort of climate in the Kerry, Galway and Donegal regions. In the same way, driest temperature has been recorded in the eastern part of this nation including counties like Kildare and Dublin.

The climate of the coastal areas projects a large difference between summer and winter. According to the record, an average difference of 10º Celsius can be noticed between January and July. The southern part includes warmest weather whereas the northern region is cooler than south. The east wind, which originates from central Russia, is the main cause for temperate weather.
