Germany is located at the northern part of the United States-Canada border on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Far from the Equator, this country has a moderate seasonal climate including hot summers and cold winters. In this country, you will not get to experience winter or summer for a long period. The topography as well as location has a great contribution to the climate of Germany.
Owing to the predominance of the humid westerly winds, the Climate of Germany is temperate. This climate reigns over the coastal area of the North Sea, the area along the Rhine and the peninsula of Jutland. In the North-West part of this country, one gets a whiff of the oceanic climate.

The rains arrive in the country somewhere in July. Rainfall is very unpredictable here. Even during summer, rainfall occurs with thunders, lightning and storms. It is very cold in winter and all the lakes and channels freeze. Germany features minimum temperature of 2° Celsius in winter and maximum of 24°Celsius in summer.
Further inland, a continental climate can be noticed, marked by seasonal diversity in temperature. The transitional regions in this country include Central and Southern Germany where the temperature changes from moderately oceanic to continental. The maximum temperature in summer has been recorded at 30 °C.

In the eastern part of the country, the continental climate creates a condition which is markedly different from that of the other places in Europe. Here, during winter, continental climate has high pressure air masses that loom over the land which explains the bright, clear, cold weather out here. The natives usually describe these air masses as Siberian highs. These are expected to last for about two weeks.
The coldest month of this country is January when the average temperature drops to1.6° Celsius in the northern region and -2°C in the south. In July, the total situation gets reversed and the northern part becomes cooler than the southern region.
