Thousands of tourists from all over the world visit Austria for different purposes. Some of them require visas and some of them can travel without visa. Citizens of Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, China, Dominican Republic, Georgia, Ghana, Grenada, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Pakistan, Palestine, Vanuatu and Vietnam require visa to enter Austria. Citizens of some countries do not require visa for a stipulated time limit. The list is given below.
* EU Member States, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway or Swiss passport holders do not require a visa. People from these countries may remain for an unlimited time.

* US citizens traveling Austria as tourist do not require visa for 90 days. But to stay for six months they need visa.
* Nationals of Australia and Canada do not require a visa for tourist stay up to 90 days.
Holders of the following British Passports have to apply for visas.
* British Dependent Territories
* British Overseas Citizens
* British Protected persons
* British Nationals (Overseas) Hong Kong and Bermuda.
The Austrian High Commission handles the application for Visa. The following documents needed to be submitted to get the Visa.
* Completed Application Form duly signed by the applicant. In some cases more than one application forms may have to be submitted. Minors must submit letter from school, college or from legal guardians.
* A full national passport or official travel document valid for more than 3 months must be submitted.
* Two passports sized recent photographs without staple or damage.
* Proof of why you want to visit Austria. It may include original letter of invitation legalized by notary public, solicitor or competent authority and copy of Austrian passport or letter from your Austrian business partner.
* Proof of sufficient funds that includes your recent bank statement and travelers cheque.
* Proof of health insurance
* Evidence of occupation or student status ( Proof of your current occupation, a letter from solicitor, letter from school or college or university and letter from your accountant. )
* Transport documentation
